The Walsh Group (TWG) Homepage

Congressional Relations - We have worked with Congressional staff members of both the Senate and House of Representatives providing briefings and assisting in reviewing draft drugged driving legislation that recently has been signed into law [Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act of 2005, Sec. 2013].

We have also worked with House and Senate staff on drug free workplace issues. Some years ago, then Speaker Newt Gingrich requested that TWG develop an implementation plan to drug-test members and staff of the House of Representatives as is required by House Rule #1, Sec. 9. A plan was developed and delivered to the Speaker, however, the program has yet to be implemented. Dr. Walsh has testified many times before various committees of both the House and Senate.

public policy and government relations

Public Policy Research - In a pivotal public policy study to determine the feasibility of Per Se laws for driving under the influence of drugs [DUID] TWG conducted a state-by-state analysis of DUID statutes in the United States [Walsh et. al., 2002] in collaboration with The American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Substance Abuse and convened a series of consensus meetings with Police, Prosecutors, Judges, Lawmakers and Health advocate groups. These activities were supported by grants from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration [NHTSA].Reports from this study have been widely distributed and are considered seminal references on state DUID laws.

Government Relations - In the Executive Branch of Government, we are in routine contact with ONDCP, Education, Transportation, Health, Treasury, SBA, FDA, Justice, Homeland Security etc. consulting for corporate clients, serving on committees, and providing a full spectrum of services.
